Zhanqiao Pier is Qingdao’s most recognizable landmark and the city’s unofficial symbol. Built in 1891 as a naval pier, extended to 440m in 1931. The octagonal Huilan Pavilion at the end offers panoramic views of the Old Town skyline. Locals gather here at dawn for tai chi, fishing, and morning exercise. At night, the pier is illuminated, creating one of the city’s most photogenic scenes. Free entry, no ticket needed.
